da da dum
I'm done with summer. Someone please PLEASE bring me fall! It's so freaking hot I feel like I live in an oven. My yarn sticks to my fingers when I knit and I just want to be cool again.
plus IT happened. Blame Michael's. Blame crafter's choice. Blame anybody or anything but my genes. I have the Christmas bug. Can't help it... it's here. And now I am seeing red and green everywhere, I have a sudden craving for pumpkin pie and hot turkey gravy (not neccessarily together---ew). I want to be wearing a thick, luscious white sweater and a darling red skirt... I want to be able to wear a hat and sing Christmas carols without people looking at me like I have gone off my rocker.
I may even have to bust out and decorate the blog for christmas. OH the insanity.
Knitting wise...
Last night I decided that I had better start shaking my tailfeathers for the bpod.org/afghansforus afghan square swap and I finished planning what for who. I have a bias knit square and a lacy check square already, the argyle square, a turtle from the Barbara Walker Charted Knitting book, an entrelac square, and a pocket square. I need about a gazillion more. There's 14 of us, so I can't count myself (or can I?) I am about 1/2 way there. Well that's a relief. :)
I want to make Clapotis for my MIL for Christmas but I don't know what color or yarn to use as she is a very steadfast, stiff upper lip, dyed-in-the-wool Brit with Jewish tendencies (no I am not being Anti-Semitic when I say that, this is how she describes herself and she is part Jewish). Colors I think of when I think of her: tan, beige, camel, navy, grey, steel. She was raised postwar, most of her childhood was during the rations and she still acts like they exist but only for her. IE: she rations herself, but gives selflessly to others. She is, quite possibly, the most courageous woman I know. I look up to her like I look up to my grandmother, which is saying quite a bit. If grandma had lived to see me get married I think that my MIL and my Grandmother would have loved eachother. My mother and my MIL can't stand one another; this reinforces my belief. ;) So what should I do?
I figured out today that if I start addressing Christmas cards now... I could have them in the mail by the last week of November, only 1 a day! How cool is that?!

hey dreamy... what about a lace-weight wool yarn from handpaintedyarn.com? they have lots of beautiful colour combos in the shades you mentioned & they're definitely not boring... plus they're very cheaply priced so it wouldn't cost you a lot to make it!
