:( It's a sad sad day

This morning when I woke up and saw the news, all I wanted to do was cry. I have spent the day in a funk, hovering somewhere below normal, my heart breaking for the senseless violence in London today. I felt the kind of dislocated misery I felt during 9-11. I had stood in the shadows of those buildings; I have ridden the trains that were victim to the bombs today. In short, I was shaken-- it could have been me. At some point; I could have been standing where the poor people who had to endure this abomination were standing.

But my story is unimportant: what is important are the lives of the people who will be forever changed by today. My heart, thought, and prayers go out to them tonite.

On a brighter note:

this:

came in the mail on Tuesday from Soapfibergirl in a swap; I sent her "the shop on blossom street" and "knit one, kill two" and in return I got a bunch of goodies! Clockwise from the blue bottle: honeysuckle body spray, soap, some gorgeously soft brown alpaca yarn (suggestions on how to use it are very welcome), some vintage bernant wool, stitch markers, a sachet, blue and coral seedbeads, a knitted washcloth, and some body glitter. SHINY! I love it all--- but the alpaca is just wonderful. I can't decide what to do with it so I am just going to drag it around the house with me like a favored teddy bear. Thank you ever so much Michelle!

Knitterly notes: I had a poll @ knitty as to what color to do my diagonal striping on the argyle square and the survey saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidddddddddddddddddddddddddd: lime! I am presently winding 5 balls of magenta and 6 balls of purple for the pattern, and eyeing my swatch lustfully; I am very proud of it. It is a little piece of swatchy goodness; the argyle looks freaking amazing and if I wasn't approximately the size of a barn I would totally wear something in this pattern....
