Knitting knitting knitting

The year is coming to a close. Most year's I'm all about saying screw New Year's but this year I am all happy about the turning of the year. 2005 I started out all "Flylady-ed" up and with it. Last year we drove to Oregon on Boxing Day (Dec 26) and came home on the 31st. I came home in love with Oregon and the perceived slowness of life as compared to California. I decided that for sure I wanted to get a 4 year degree in English and be teaching and living in Oregon by 2010. I wanted my own farmhouse with sheep and chickens too. lol. I've been a townie for too long I think.

I set out to make a list of 50 things I wanted to do before the end of 2005 and ended up with like 13. Here they are:

50 things I want to do before the end of 2005:

  1. Learn how to spin
  2. Finish my afghan from the group
  3. Begin the Master Knitterā€™s Program
  4. Lose weight***
  5. Learn to Love exercise
  6. Make exercise a habit
  7. Watch some really good movies
  8. Write a whole book 150,000+ words
  9. Participate in the National Novel writing month thing

  10. Maintain functioning and cashbearing websites
  11. Work hard enough to no longer qualify for financial aid 2006/2007 school year
  12. Purchase Stock
  13. Open an IRA
------------
***Technically I have lost weight; however I gained so much weight that the 17lbs I've lost post op so far don't really count. But really, I think on the whole, with what I did end up setting out to do, I made some good progress.

I learned how to spin and bought (well I'm still paying for it) an ashford Kiwi spinning wheel that I love but don't use often enough. I have done a couple of my squares for the Master Knitter's Level 1 program, but haven't worked on them since May :(. My afghan is more of a baby blanket and I crapped out on another afghan group project, which is bad but one thing I suffered from last year was a major lack of time.

2005 was busy busy busy for me. Spring semester saw me in 2 English classes, Web Design II, Algebra 102, and Human Sexuality. I went straight from spring semester into Summer with Experimental Video and Statistics, and from there 2 weeks for Barry's movie and I started Fall with 2 days left on filming the movie. Fall semester saw me in French 101, Photoshop, Creative NonFiction, Sociology 101, and Intro To Public Speaking. (don't pay attn to the fact that in spring I ended up dropping math and failing HS or that in Fall I dropped PS and French...) I was overburdened and overbooked.

On the knitting front; I knitted a pasha from knitty, several pairs of fingerless mitts, countless afghan squares, a baby gnome, a miniature sweater, several Touch Me pumpkins, 3 or 4 scarves, increased Rogue by about 6 inches, and a couple of things here and there that I don't remember. Nothing major.

What's on my list for 2006? The super-awesome Fun Fur Bear Rug from Knit1, which everyone has been so nice to donate their eyelash yarn to. :) I can't wait to see how it comes out. My sister will be thrilled.

Finish Rogue, a baby blanket for one of my favorite English teachers, the Oat Couture Curlicue Coverlet, and the Rainbow Shawl from A Gathering of Lace (which I have wanted to make since like 2002 when I bought the book). Oh yeah, and knit up the sock yarn the pervert bought me for my birthday. :) Nothing like handknit socks. For me. mwahaha. I also want to play around with the Jess Hutchinson book my lovely SP6 got me. :) and design a thrummed sheep.

Non knitting?

I don't want to overburden myself. 2006 is going to be a laid back year where I take care of me. I will post again later...
