frustrations

You know, it's hard to deal with accepting a diagnosis when you have your mother telling you that the only thing wrong with you is that you are "and always have been" a hypochondriac. In essence, you have been wasting your time going back and forth to the doctor's office every week just for attention.

Thank you for the Christmas card. It was a nice surprise.

Oh wow, that's terrible. I really can't stand anyone, but especially parents, saying things like that. To me, it makes it painfully obvious just how much involvement they have in your life, or how much they'd prefer to have. I can't believe that your mother would say that to you.

I hope that the diagnosis helps you out, though. I remember when I was diagnosed with endometriosis after being told by so many doctors that my pain was normal and I'd just have to deal with it. Yeah, there's not a whole lot you can do about it, but it's good to know what it is so that you can try.
