I smell change on the wind...

Yep. This weekend I installed a wordpress blog and pretty soon, once I get everything ready I will be moving over there. :) Yay! Of course I still haven't figured out how to import my previous blogposts into wp (they are there... I figured that much out, but having them show up on the webpage is another story in and of itself)

I have lots and lots of knitting porn for you. First, let me introduce 3byte, my trilobyte from Loxosceles. For the life of me I can't remember just how I manged to find this pattern, but omg! It's even better than the spider @ Knitting Fiend and that is saying something. I love quirky little knits, which is why I really like Jess Hutchinson, Alan Dart, and Jean Greenhowe.

So without further ado, here's 3byte, who is going to be given to my Geology teacher tomorrow. I just realized that I have knit something for almost all of my teachers and it's only like the 3rd or 4th week of class. I made the Jayne hat for my teacher Susan Lowry (love taking classes with her, she is very laid back, but if you take the time to listen you can learn alot from her.) I was knitting the Day of the Dead dolls from the summer issue of Knit 1 magazine (also known as the compendium of knitted crap, but addictive knitted crap... see footnote) in class and found out that her husband collects DoD stuff. Cool, so I gave it to her. She seems nice, and we share a name--we're both Angela. Finally I made 3byte for my geology teacher Mr. Balogh because he cracks me up, it's an enjoyable class (for science) and I couldn't resist.

3byte:

As per usual, click for an upclose view. 3byte, you had me at hello.

I seriously need to get back on my meds. I'm dizzy and almost ready to keel over but the thought of sleeping is like, abhorrent. WHO NEEDS SLEEP? In my mind I know I need it, and I am desperate for it, I've been really bitchy crabby lately and I don't like it. It makes me with PMS seem like I'm ebullient and overflowing with joy. Sigh.

However, everyone wishes they could sleep less and have more time for knitting... so....

My Mohawk Hat from Fall (the tv special) issue of Knit 1 mag (remember, footnote) that I made for Johnathon/Noodles because what teenage boy doesn't want/need a hat so fuglicious it would get his ass beat up in school? No seriously, it's more of a gag, but fun because WHO KNEW HATS WERE SUCH FUN?! I don't wear em as a rule, so I never really made more than the odd 2 or 3 for Megs. I like this hat, don't really care for the line of seven 2.5 inch pompoms that create a "mohawk" *shudder* but it looks funny... I didn't secure 6 of the pompoms in the mohawk down, they are completely detatchable and all it takes is a needle and 3 minutes to get em back on (if you're slow).

Aren't I fetching?!

And the hat laid out on its side. The pompoms rock... I <3>

And finally, tomorrow is my big day (if I can get some size 3 or 2 circs... gah.) I will be casting on for the Simple Knitted Bodice. Here's my swatch:

Do click and see the upclose view. The clear beads are MUCH brighter (read-loud) in real life. I think the flash tamed them. I wish I had read the pattern and figured out the big needle/small needle thing. *sigh* oh well I can't wait to cast on and get started. A sweater all for me!!!!

Finally. What we've all been waiting for. THE KNIT1 magazine footnote. LOL.

If I had to admit to a dirty little *knitting* secret, it would be that although this magazine has managed to reach astounding heights in terms of the banal, fugly, and just plain ridiculous (please, a jumpsuit made out of Magic Stripes? A duster with fun fur trim EVEN IN THE ARMPITS that makes the wearer look like she needs to shave?!!?! and much much more...) I am thoroughly addicted to it. Because between the madness and insanity, there's several good, interesting, and just plain odd (read=must knit able) patterns. Like the Day of the Dead doll or a knitted/crocheted chandelier.

Where else could you have awesome cabled garments and then flip a page and have a KNITTED TV COZY?!?!

I love it.

I feel the same way about Knit1. I buy it for the two patterns I like, and then get entertainment value out of the rest by laughing at them.
I got my KSKS package in the mail yesterday and had a blast geekin out about every item in the box, right down to the Lenore stationary you used in your letter. Thank you so much! I would post about it on my blog, except blogger is misbehaving again and not letting me post pictures. Errrr.
Your blogger profile says you are a Sagittarius like me, when's your birthday? If it's the same as mine I'm going to freak out!
