Weather Musings

Remember the post "Did You Hear It?" where I talked about the change from Summer? It's hopefully finally sweater weather. All day long I have heard Brenda Dayne's voice telling me that "If you're cold, put on a sweater, that's what they're for." No nice sweaters to be had. :( I must knit faster on my Simple Knitted Bodice... but I am still at the swatching stage... and then there's the beads to string...

sigh.

Back to Did You Hear It? I wrote some more to go along with it today in class.

Yesterday the weather was hot, stifling. Though Summer had released Her deathgrip on the world weeks ago, She was still the reigning power here. The earth, asphalt, people and cars baked in the unrelenting heat of the day. But today all is different. The wind is howling through the streets, racing down the avenues and tormenting the trees.

Branches and leaves flutter, shiver, and twist on the wind. Skirts, blouses, and hair are thoughtlessly tossed on the wind and put out of place. With the wind came a rapid and blessedly welcome drop in the temperature. The world is sighing its relief into the wind. No longer is it under the cruel dominance of Summer's heat.

I stopped because the emo-kid who was sitting next to me started peeping over my shoulder and I was dangerously crossing over into the land of purple prose...

Still, yay! Fall time!
